This project was the result of the continuing expansion of Francis Clark, taking up a new domain in their existing building. The recruitment programme meant a move away from the large 120 degree desking to a more space efficient bench design. The two spaces were separated but with a premium on space, instead of creating a walkway through, an informal standing meeting room was created with access from both ends, creating additional settings for each side of the office to utilise.

Flexibility was key with the new meeting rooms, from a standard meeting room set up, to an auditorium style seating arrangement. We specified tilt-top tables and versatile stacking chairs to give the room a simple and quick process for change of purpose.

Not wanting to spend on the current space didn't stop a new range of newly designed ergonomic products being installed in the new workspace. Utilising the fabrics and desk finishes to tie in the corporate branding, it allowed the new space utilise all newly available furniture ranges.

Project Summary.

Francis Clark is named after its founder Francis S Clark. After practicing as a certified accountant in Salisbury, Rhodesia - now Harare, Zimbabwe - he returned to England and opened an office in Newton Abbot in November 1919.

Since then and even more significantly since 1980, the firm has expanded by merging with practices that shared the firm’s objectives. Since Mr. Clark first put up his plate in Newton Abbot, Francis Clark has expanded from one partner with an assistant to 58 partners and over 600 staff with eight offices in the South West.
